1210 Simpson St, Bronx, NY.

Located at 1210 Simpson St, Bronx, NY, this life-changing project was designed by Urban Architectural Initiatives through a collaborative, community-focused development that meaningfully impacted the wellbeing of its residents. It was born from a strategic partnership between St. Peter’s Deliverance Ministries, CMC Development Group, and HELP USA, a national non-profit organization that targets homelessness.

The seven-story building yields 72 affordable apartments spanning studios to three-bedroom layouts, of which 44 units are dedicated to supportive housing. The lower levels feature the new St. Peter’s Deliverance Ministries church and various amenities such as landscaped outdoor terrace, bike storage lockers, laundry room, tenant community room and business center. This mixed-use structure is conveniently steps away from the Freeman St. subway station, which serves the 2 and 5 lines.
Altuve’s scope of work included the installation of Swisspearl multi-color fiber cement panels and windowsills, this being the most outstanding element of this envelope project. The design featured three colors of fiber cement panels in varying rectangular sizes, installed in a shuffled pattern across two facades.
